Adocasts Plus Perk Changes
Today we're introducing a brand new perk, making a switch to repository access, and removing an old perk, so let's quickly review the changes.
Introducing our New Notes Feature
We're excited to introduce our new note taking feature right on the lesson page.
Adocasts Plus subscribers can now take notes on lessons as they watch. The best part? You can tag your note to the video's current timestamp, allowing you to jump back to that exact moment in the lesson with a single click!
All your saved notes are easily accessible from your dedicated notes page, which you can find in your user menu.
We'll continue to tweak this feature based on feedback and as I make use of it myself. Our free users can trial this feature with up to five notes.
Repository Access
Previously, the repositories for our Adocasts Plus exclusive series and lessons were public on GitHub. While this was convenient, it unfortunately led to issues like unauthorized redistribution and questions from non-plus subscribers who hadn't watched the lessons. To resolve this and protect the value of your subscription, we'll be switching to private repositories and limiting access exclusively to our Adocasts Plus subscribers.
Accessing the Code:
GitHub Access: Adocasts Plus subscribers can now join our private Adocasts Plus team on GitHub to gain direct access to these repositories. Check your Account Settings page to get your invite!
Direct Download: You can now also download a ZIP of the repository code directly from the lesson with a simple click of a button, shown below.
Removing Timed Exclusivity on Free Lessons
When we first launched Adocasts Plus, we introduced a two-week exclusivity period for free lessons to compensate for our limited exclusive content library at the time.
Today, our Adocasts Plus exclusive library has grown nicely! Because of this growth, and because the timed exclusivity often causes confusion and complicates promotion, we are dropping this perk.
Moving forward, all users will be able to access new free lessons immediately upon release, without any waiting period.
